Supported link types
Public videos work when you copy a direct link to one specific clip and that clip plays without logging in. Share links, watch-page links, short redirect links, and short-form video links all follow the same rule. Login-only, friends-only, or group posts visible only to members cannot be analyzed. See our supported link types guide for the full list.
Step-by-step
- Open the video you want to save, tap Share, choose Copy link, or copy the URL from the browser address bar on desktop.
- Paste it at Social Saver and tap Analyze link.
- Select the video thumbnail and complete the download steps shown on screen.
Share links vs watch URLs
Share links often redirect to a watch page. Both usually work when the video is public. If analyze fails on a share link, open the video in a browser, wait for the page to finish loading, and copy the address-bar URL instead.
Quality notes
We prefer higher-bitrate progressive MP4 files when the platform exposes them on the public page. Some clips are only available in standard definition; that limit comes from the source, not from our tool. Live streams and expired broadcasts cannot be downloaded after they end.
Preview vs download
If analyze fails, you may see an embedded preview or an "Open on platform" button. That lets you watch in-browser while server access is being restored. For file downloads, public links that work without logging in give the best results.
Short-form video posts
Public short-form video posts use the same Share → Copy link flow as other videos. Private or follower-only clips return a restricted-content error — that is expected.
Legal reminder
Only save videos you created, licensed, or have explicit permission to download. Redistributing someone else's content without permission may violate copyright and platform terms. Read our copyright guide for details.
